I Think im Turning Japanese

Katsuya 2006 by Phillipe Starck.
I would dine in this place any day of the week! I wish Japanese restaurants in Sydney looked this fascinating, sigh. But don't worry, I'm sure we will get there. Speaking of getting there, I found Busshari in Potts Point, Sydney to be a very delightful experience, http://www.busshari.com.au/
and I don't have to leave the country for that matter.

Stunning blasts from the past- think 2006

Yoo, Toronto, Canada and Copenhagen by Phillipe Starck 2006.
Simply beautiful... mixing the old and the new, and recreating the old. This is a bold statement, poetic in its execution.

Le Lan, 2007 by Phillipe Starck

This project by Phillipe Starck is located in Chaoyang District, Beijing, China. Have you ever seen anything so rich in colour? So unbelievably enticing! The careful use of colour, highlihgting different aspects of the interior, along with the perfectly designed lighting creates a thematic and opulent space.
I take a lot of inspiration from Starck for my own work, as his work is often very quirky yet sophisticated.
Here are some interior images, all obtained from http://www.philippe-starck.com/

Mama Shelter, 109 rue de Bagnolet 2008

What can I say... I am simply in love with this design. This is where the conceptual becomes reality, something that rarely happens. I love the warmth created though the chosen materials and the sculptured chairs look stunning. So very vivid, cutting-edge and elegant, Mr Starck.

Phillipe Starck

What an amazing and talented designer! Here are some images of the latest designs from Starck... loving the furniture. His designs have all shocked us (in a good way) and this collection proves how quirkiness and sophistication can fuse together beautifully.

V&A Porter Gallery- Block Architecture

Also by Block Architecture, this gallery oozes sophistication, minimalism and sleek.
Simply beautiful.

Ray of light

This is an amazing image from Block Architecture.

"Modern Art Oxford is a gallery renowned for ground-breaking shows over the last forty years from Joseph Beuys to Tracey Emin. Prior to its life as an art gallery The Modern Art Oxford was a brewery with a raised entry level for deliveries. The proposal aimed to expose this history by creating a single ‘platform’ level where the social and the cultural could interact. Utilitarian materials such as concrete, mesh and strip-lights give a sense of the delivery bay aesthetic and are augmented by two large perforated plywood ‘packing crates’ which form the information and server counters." Marcel Wonder-ful

Marcel Wonders is one of my favourite designers, with his edgy quality that always contains some classicism.
I especially love the project Thor, the Hotel on Rivington, New York City.
Here are some amazing shots found on the Marcel Wonders website, http://www.marcelwanders.com/insyde/xml/flash.shtml

His work is stunning, poetic and aesthetically pleasing. Marcel has always been at the cutting edge of design, and never disappoints.
